Information
Instant coffee (coffee extract) is made from ground, roasted coffee. Instant coffee contains only the soluble and aromatic components of coffee, but does not contain preservatives or additives. The industrial process is essentially identical with the method used to prepare coffee at home. The green raw coffee is cleaned, roasted and then hot water is added to prepare an extract; this is subsequently concentrated and carefully dried to preserve the product. Because the raw materials are carefully selected and a well-adapted production process is used, the dried product retains an excellent characteristic coffee aroma and tastes as good as it smells.
Instant coffee contains caffeine in various amounts depending on the botanical and geographical origin of the coffee (worldwide) and the production process used. Caffeine promotes concentration and enhances mood. It is for this reason that it is recommended that coffee should only be consumed by adolescents and adults.
Instant coffee is usually made by adding hot, but no longer boiling water, or even using cold drinking water, and is consumed as a stimulant and for enjoyment. Dosage and cup sizes vary according to tradition and custom and users can select from a wide range of options. Most commonly used are cups with a capacity of some 125 ml and an instant coffee dose equivalent to 1 - 2.5 g coffee extract dry matter in each 100 ml. We recommend using 1 heaped or 2 slightly heaped coffee spoonfuls of coffee powder.
