Creamy hummusz with maca root
Ingredients (approx. 2 servings)
- 150 g dry chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons maca root powder
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- 1 small clove garlic
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 50–80 ml cooking water (depending on the desired consistency)
- salt, ground black pepper and cumin to taste
Preparation
After soaking the chickpeas for 10-12 hours, cook them in water until soft, then strain the cooking water and set aside. The cooked chickpeas can be processed with the tahini, lemon juice, garlic and spices in a knife chopper or blender until creamy. The ideal, silky hummus consistency can be achieved by gradually adding the olive oil and cooking water. After a short rest, the flavors blend perfectly.
